ABOUT STEPHANIE'S PRACTICE MANAGER SUMMIT SESSION
Why Managers Need Development Plans Most of All
Veterinary medicine managers get sh*t done – they execute leadership direction, direct teams, and solve problems all day long. Unfortunately, we are often put last or left off the list entirely when it comes to performance reviews, development planning, and career goal setting. Too many managers operate with everyone else on the team in front of them in line. Gallup polling has repeatedly found that their managers influence 70% of a team’s engagement so why are we not pouring time and energy into developing our managers and their skillsets and leadership competency development so they are ready to meet the challenge of influencing that team engagement, head on?

ABOUT JENN & ERIKA'S PRACTICE OWNER SUMMIT SESSION
Started From the Bottom Now We’re Here –Management and Owner Relationships
We are a team of two practice owners – one of us is the veterinarian and one of us is the practice manager – which gives us an interesting perspective. We see a lot of practice owners struggle with trying to run their practices, manage their people, and be a doctor all at the same time. We are excited to help other practice owners see the value of hiring and working with a practice manager, and finding other leaders in their practice, and then working together as a team to accomplish their shared vision. We will be reviewing how to find leaders, how to delegate, and how to follow up and follow through so that you can all hold each other accountable, stay in your own lanes, and succeed as a management team.

Sarah is a crafting fanatic at heart, whose stash of yarn, fabric, and general treasures is slowly taking over her home. Luckily, her partner has a similar propensity towards projects, and together they are renovating a ramshackle cabin in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
As a kid, Sarah fell in love with veterinary medicine through James Herriot's stories (insert eye roll!). She jumped at the chance to scoop poop in the kennel at her local vet, and now looks back in horror at what a 16 year old was allowed to do ‘back in the day'. Since then, she has worked in almost every position in small animal practice, across a range of business models, and experienced both the best and worst of our field. Today, Sarah works with veterinary teams to care for both ends of the leash, creating sustainable workflows and exceptional client experiences.
